The year 2011 will be less active for the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations, a turkologist has said.

Speaking at a press conference today, Artak Shakaryan also said that Armenians will pin much hopes to the parliamentary elections in Turkey next year, but in vain.

"It will again disappoint Armenians," said he, adding that Armenians' expectations that another regime will come to power in Turkey - one that will be more capable to continue the normalization with Armenia - will not come true.

Shakaryan also said that the Armenian Cause is of less significance for Turkey, as the "April 24 passes, and everything it fades into oblivion".

Speaking about the atmosphere that existed over the normalization process during 2010, Shakaryan said that there was a "relative decrease" in the activity over the Armenian-Turkish rapprochement with displays of nationalistic atmosphere being on the rise in both countries.
