Yerevan to 'see snow' on Friday
The residents of mountainous regions in Armenia will probably meet the New Year with some snow, while those living in valleys and low areas will mostly see rain instead, a senior meteorologist has said.
Speaking at a press conference today, Zaruhi Petrosyan said that it may snow on Friday night.
"I am saying it especially for children, who are looking forward to having some snow, that there will be some precipitation from 3 am to 4 am tomorrow," she said.
"In mountainous regions it will start in the form of snow, i.e. snow is expected from above 1200-1300 meters. While in the low areas in the capital, it is expected to rain," she explained.
Petrosyan went on saying that the precipitations will continue tomorrow, though sporadically.
From 11pm to midnight tomorrow snowflakes will be seen in Yerevan too, but because of not very low temperature during the night no stable snow coverage should be expected in the capital, low areas," said Petrosyan.
