Defense minister dismisses commander of a military unit over scandal
Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan has dismissed the commander and two officers of a military unit in Tavush region, the spokesperson for the Defense Ministry, Davit Karapetyan, told Tert.am.
The dismissal comes after a scuffle that took place around 11 pm on December 31, 2010 and involved Sergey Karapetyan, the commander of the military unit and several civilians.
A criminal case had been launched based on the Second part of Article 258 of Armenia's Criminal Code (Hooliganism).
Davit Karapetyan would not elaborate as to whether or not the dismissal of the two officers had any link to the scuffle.
