Iran says it has arrested spies linked to scientist's murder
Iran said Monday it had arrested agents with links to the Israeli intelligence service who were behind the murder of a nuclear scientist last year, M&C reported.
The 'Mossad-linked spies and terrorists' were responsible for the bombing of 50-year-old professor Massoud Ali-Mohammadi last January, Tehran said in a statement broadcast by the news network Khabar.
At the time, Iran accused the United States and Israel of 'eliminating' the country's nuclear scientists.
Ali-Mohammadi was a professor of nuclear physics at Tehran University. It was not clear whether he also had a role in the country's controversial nuclear program.
Scientific articles published under his name indicate that his field of research may have been quantum theory, an area of physics used, among others, in studying radiation.
On November 29, two other nuclear physicists were killed in separate incidents. Days later, Tehran said it had arrested a number of suspects and recovered evidence pointing at the involvement of the British, US and Israeli intelligence services.
