Armenian FM pays working visit to Latin America countries

Early in January, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan paid a working visit to Latin America countries, the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service reported.

Visiting Brazil on January 1, FM Nalbandyan took part in the inauguration of the country's president-elect Dilma Russeff and communicated to him Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan's greetings.

The next day, Armenian FM met with newly appointed Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota.

The meeting between the two officials focused on the possibilities of broadening cooperation. The parties also discussed a broad framework of issues on conducting political consultations, deepening economic ties and establishing a legal-contractual and cultural cooperation.

They also exchanged views on foreign policy issues.

FM Nalbandyan also visited the venues of the future Armenian embassy in Brazil.

The next day, Armenia's top diplomat visited the Armenian prelacy in San Paulo to meet with Armenian community representatives and leaders. He handed to Mistress Hilda Burmayan the patent of Armenian Honored Consul in Brazil.

Continuing his working visit, the Armenian FM left for Buenos Aires on January 4 to meet with his Argentinean counterpart Hector Marcos Timerman.

At the meeting, Nalbandyan reconfirmed Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's invitation to his Argentinean counterpart Cristina Fernandez Kirchner.

The parties also discussed possibilities of mutual cooperation.

FM Nalabandyan expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the Argentinean Embassy in Armenia.

The same day he met with Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri. The two sides discussed posibilities of establishing cooperation between the towns of Buenos Aires and Yerevan.
