The Public Council's committee on entrepreneurship and consumer affais has launched public opinion polls through www.sociology.am website.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, member of the committee Arshak Sadoyan said the initiative is aimed at bridging the existing gaps in the sphere.

"Public opinion polls in Armenia cannot be considered credible. No serious Internet surveys have been conducted so far," he stressed.

On December 27, the site launched rating survey enabling visitors to evaluate the supermarkets, malls, as well as the assortment and quality of different companies' food products (dairy, meat products, alcoholic beverages).

The online voting is available to anyone registered to the website. Active voters will also take part in a drawing; winners will get money awards and gifts.

Sadoyan said the polls will serve as a basis for creating an online voting resource accessible to everyone.

"We'll create a national cooperation network, a huge portal which will contain several sections. The poll returns will be posted on the section devoted to social life."

Registered users are welcome to vote from now on.
It is also planned to conduct surveys devoted to prominent public figures including oligarchs.
