Aida returns to stage

Giuseppe Verdi''s Aida will be on stage again. Armenian music lovers will have a chance to enjoy the world-famous Italian musician's opera on January 17, 19 and 23 at the Armenian National Academic Theatre.

Conductors at upcoming performances will be Yuri Davtyan, Harutyun Arzumanyan and Marc Kissoczy (Switzerland), respectively.
The tickets cost is between 3,000 and 10,000 drams.

Verdi wrote his famous opera in 1869 on the occasion of the opening of Suez Canal. Aida was first staged in 1871 at the order of the Egyptian government.

Its performance in Yerevan last December marked a major even in Armenia's cultural life. The opera consisting of four acts involved 300 actors, covering all the three stages of the opera hall.

Famous Italian directors Mario Corradi and Andrea Borelli were invited to Yerevan to introduce to the Armenian audience to the great masterpiece of the Italian opera art. Art director Avetis Barseghyan who was responsible for designing the actors' clothes had managed to revive and impart to the audience the spirit of the ancient times.

At the December performance, opera conductor was Karen Durgaryan and the choir master was Karen Sargsyan. The choreographic part was supervised by Vigen Galstyan.
