Armenia ranked as 'partly free' country in Freedom House survey

Freedom House has released its 2011 freedom survey. Titled "Freedom in the World 2011" the survey included Eastern
Europe/Former Soviet Union countries and rates the political rights and civil liberties there.

Based on rating the countries are divided into three categories – "free," "partly free" and "not free".

Armenia, together with its neighboring Georgia, is included among "partly free" countries.

Azerbaijan and South Ossetia are included in "not free" countries. Nagorno Karabakh is also included in "not free" list.

"Not free" countries include also Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Belarus.

Among former Soviet countries Kyrgyzstan is included in the "partly free" list together with Ukraine, Transnistria and Moldova.

Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia Herzegovina and Abkhazia, are also referred to as "partly free".

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania are included in "free" countries, together with Poland, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Montenegro.
