Commander of military unit arrested over deadly scandal
The commander of a military unit in Armenia's Armed Forces has been arrested over a scuffle in the same military unit on December 31, 2010 that claimed a human life.
Sergei Karapetyan has been charged with the Section 4 of Article 258 of Armenia's Criminal Code, as well as with articles 34-104 and 133.
Karapetyan and two officers of the same military unit were dismissed from their posts on January 10 after they had been involved in a scuffle with some civilians.
The scuffle had left Taron Engibaryan, one of the civilians, dead.
In a statement released today Armenia's Defense Ministry conveyed its deepest condolences to Engibaryan's relatives.
