The independence of the UN member states can establish a good precedent for Nagorno Karabakh, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan finds.

"The major part of the UN member countries can serve as an example, as well as a precedent for Karabakh," he told today a news conference on Friday.

The minister referred to the recent referendum in Southern Sudan as a most recent example demonstrating people's will to exercise their right to self-determination.

"The developments in Sudan came to prove once again that it is impossible to resist people's efforts to exercise their right to self-determination. So the international community's policy is evident," Armenia's top diplomat said.
