Hayrusgazard former deputy director becomes deputy mayor
At its extraordinary meeting on Thursday, the Elders' Council of Yerevan appointed Vahagn Arakelyan, a former vice director of Hayrusgazard company, as deputy mayor.
Arakelyan's candidacy was proposed by Mayor Karen Karapetyan and received the council's unanimous approval.
Praising the newly-appointed deputy mayor, Karapetyan characterized him as a good professional and a man of high moral standards.
"I have worked with him in Hayrusgazard and can say he's one of the country's best financiers," the mayor stated.
Arakelyan will be responsible for coordinating the financial activities of the Mayor's Office.
Speaking to journalist, the deputy mayor said he didn't consider his new appointment as the mayor's tendency to move Hayrusgazard staff to the municipality.
"I had left my job at Hayrusgazard much earlier than Karepetyan did," he said.
