Orhan Pamuk's visit to Sri Lanka causes concerns – RSF

Reporters without Borders (RSF) has issued a statement for all writers intending to take part in the literary festival to be held in Sri Lanka.

The statement particularly says that a great number of writers, journalists and opposition supporters are subjected to different forms of violence in the country.

"In view of the increasing pressures on freedom of speech in Sri Lanka, Orhan Pamuk and other foreign writers' participation in the literary festival causes serious concerns," say the authors.

The Sri Lanka literary festival set to begin on January 26 will bring together ten foreign writers, including Turkish intellectual and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize Orhan Pamuk.
