Special working group to conduct studies in Yerevan dolphinarium

A special working group has been set up to conduct studies in Yerevan dolphinarium, Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan told a news conference on Tuesday.

The studies, he said, are focused on both the animals and their habitat.

The company operating the dolphinarium applied to the ministry for importing four species. The ministry issued permission for three, saying that their import was not problematic as the animals were not considered vanishing species.

"They could have carried out the import without applying to us," the minister said.

Harutyunyan also added that notwithstanding environmentalists' concerns, no violations had been observed in operating the dolphinarium.
