Aleppo governor to help Armenian teachers with employment

The Governor of Aleppo, Ali Ahmad Mansoura will help Armenian citizens in Syria with employment, according to the press office of Armenia's Foreign Ministry.

At a January 30 meeting with Ashot Manukyan, Armenia's Consul General in Syria, Mansoura discussed issues such as allowing Armenian nationals permanently residing in Syria to teach at pre-school institutions and colleagues, as well as whether the higher education diplomas should be accepted as valid in both countries.

Ashot Manukyan, according to the Foreign Ministry press release, told Mansoura that currently there are 500 Armenian nationals there, mainly women, who despite having higher cannot be employed by educational institutions given there are numerous obstacles.

Mansoura promised to tackle those issues. He also agreed to personally help those candidates proposed by the consulate in finding a job.

Mansoura also promised to discuss the issue related to the diplomas with the Syrian Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ghiath Barakat, before his upcoming visit to Armenia.

Manukyan handed over to Mansoura the invitation of Ararat region's governor to visit Armenia. The invitation was accepted with content, the ministry's press service added.
