Smart Systems, LLC says it has suffered big losses as a result of a recent hacker attack against one of its servers in Canada.
The company's Executive Director Hayk Geghamyan told Tert.am that the Canadian company Rackforce, which hosted its clients' data, would automatically archive its information reserve three times a week.

"When the hacker attack occurred, we applied to the Canadian company with a request that it launch a new server and connect to it its archive disc to restore the hacked websites. But their reply came after a two-day delay. They told us that they had erroneously deleted the information. Under the circumstances, we were naturally capable of restoring the websites, but the information they contain was created as early as a year ago. We are going to use other reserve archives that were saved on other servers," Geghamyan stressed.

He also added that Rackforce, which is a well-known Canadian organization, had negligently failed to fulfill its obligation to Smart Systems, LLC and the company is now going to file a lawsuit to recover damages.

Geghamyan said the hackers had broken 190 websites, damaging over 290 domains.

As for the hackers' ethnic origins, he said they were presumably either Azeris or Turks.

"The text contained comments both in Azerbaijani and Turkish languages. There were a lot of grammatical errors which give rise to doubts," he added.

Geghamyan also noted that hacker attacks against Armenian websites become especially intensive when the country celebrates some holiday. And the recent attack was launched on January 29, a day after the celebration of the National Army Day.

At the end, the company's director said this shouldn't be surprising as "hacker battles" also form part of a big war.
