Festive events to mark Saint Sargis Day in Armenia

The Armenian Apostolic Church will in February celebrate the Saint Sargis Feast Day - the patron saint of young love.

According to the press service of the Mother See of Holly Etchmiadzin, through the leadership of the Deputy Vicar, Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, various festive events will be organized on the occasion.

Particularly, a visit will be paid to N14 Nikoghaios Tigranyan School of Children with Seeing Impairments in Yerevan at 2 pm on February.

Ararat Union, together with the namesake choir, headed by the spiritual leader of the union, Priest Hakob Khachatryan, will conduct a housewarming ceremony and distribute presents.

Ararat Choir will have also a concert on that occasion.

Rima Simonyan’s collection of dried fruits exhibited at the Museum of Nature Protection will be distributed among children.

Marking the feast day of St. Sargis, the unmarried Armenian young females and males eat a piece of salty bread, ideally after fasting all day, in the hope of dreaming about their future husband/wife.

Tradition says the man/woman who brings them water in the dream will be the person they will marry.
