Yerevan comedy theater hosts Artavazd Award Ceremony

The annual award ceremony Artavazd was held on the World Theater Day on Sunday at the Hakob Paronyan Musical Comedy Theater in Yerevan.

The event, organized by the Union of Theatrical Figures, was this year dedicated to the 80th birthday of renowned Armenian actor Khoren Abrahamyan.

In this year's Best Young Actor/Actress nomination, Mariam Ghazanchyan from the Theatre of Young Spectator and Yuri Igitkhanyan from the Stanislavsky Russian Drama Theater were awarded the Artavazds.

Lily Elbakyan (Drama and Comedy Theatre named after Edgar Elbakyan) was recognized as the best young stage director. Armen Meliksetyan (Pan-national Theatre) and Shushan Gevorgyan (Paronyan Theater) were the winners of the Best Youth Performance award.

Hrachya Harutyunyan (Ghaplanyan Drama Theater) and Hakob Azizyan (Abelyan Drama Theater of Vanadzor) won the Artavazd prize as best male actors.

Evelina Shahiryan (Ghaplanyan Drama Theater) and Anna Baladina (Stanislavsky Russian Dram Theater) won the Best Female Actress award.

The Khoren Abrahamyan prize went to Armen Marutyan (Sundukyan National Academic Theater).

Kamo Hovhannisyan, Greta Galstyan, Emanuil Araksman-Manukyan and Kajaznuni Gyurjinyan received merit awards.

Aida Hovhannisyan, Gurgen Gadachik, Samvel Khachatryan, Hayk Mnatsakanyan, Yuri Eloyan and Robert Harutyunyan were honored with the Union of Theatrical Figures' Gold Medal.

The award ceremony was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture.
