Academy of Art celebrates 65th anniversary

Artists’ Union of Armenia hosted Tuesday an exhibition that marks the 65th anniversary of Armenia’s Academy of Art.

The exhibition includes works by professors and students.

Speaking to journalist the rector of the academy, Aram Isabekyan, said that the 65th anniversary was to be celebrated last year as the academy was founded in 1945.

But the festive events were not organized due to some reasons which Isabekyan did not elaborate.

“The result of the 65 years is that we can say today that the most important institute of higher education in fines arts is the Academy of Art,” said Isabekyan.

He went to say that currently more than 20% of the students in the academy are foreigners.

The academy is also in cooperation with the world’s most outstanding institutes of higher education in art, he added.

“I want to state that I am very happy with the development we have had as it coincided with the years of independence of our country,” he said.

A festive meeting will be held at Armenia’s National Gallery as part of the celebrations, Isabekyan added.
