Emmy isn’t entitled to appeal Eurovision results

Emmy, Armenia’s contestant to Eurovision Song Contest 2011 cannot appeal the results of the first semi-final as that right belongs to the Public TV.

Nadezhda Sargsyan, the singer’s mother, wrote in her Facebook page that all the other details will be unveiled at an upcoming press conference.

“First, I would like to thank all those who have till today been with use and have trust in Emmy. I would like also to mention that Emmy has not appealed as the official representative of the Eurovision contest is the Public TV,” wrote Sargsyan.

It comes after widespread reports in the Armenian media that Emmy is in all probability going to appeal the results of the first semi-final which she failed.

“It’s the Public TV that can do something which has not appealed either. All the details [will be discussed] at the press conference upon their return,” Nadezhda Sargsyan added.

Speaking to Tert.am, Emmy’s manager Vardan Grigoryan said: “Emmy is a singer. She does not deal with appealing. That authority and monopoly belongs to the Public TV only.”

Grigoryan also said that at the moment he does not know whether or not Emmy appealed the resulted of the first semi-final.

“I will try to find it out within the coming two hours,” he added. “We only know that four countries have appealed, but we don’t know whether or not is Armenia among them.”

The winners of the first semi-final were the representatives of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Greece, Lithuania, Serbia, Russia and Island.
Contesting in the final will be also the winners of the second semi-final – Spain, Italy, Great Britain, France and Germany.
