The students of the Yerevan State University (YSU) have launched a petition, asking Rector Aram Simonyan to ensure their free access to wireless Internet (WiFi) on the university's territory.

Upon the initiative of young activist Artak Beglaryan, they have written a letter to the rector, complaining about limited access to the World Wide Web at the YSU campuses.

The students claim that under Clause 5 of Section 3, Article 17 of the Armenian Law on Higher and Post-graduate Education, they are entitled to have free access to the Internet at the university's libraries, labs and information archives, and other departments.

"Considering the above, we call for being provided with wireless internet on the university's territory to have free access to the paid libraries offered to YSU," they say in their letter.

So far 46 people have signed the petition. Those who wish to join the campaign, can register here.
