Azerbaijan to ensure safety of all Eurovision participants in 2012

Azerbaijan will ensure the safety of all the participants to the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, a senior Azerbaijani official has said.

According to the Azerbaijani news website 1news.az, Elhan Polukhov, an Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that the country will make sure that the participants have no obstacles and problems during the contest in Baku.

It comes after reports in the Armenia media claiming that the US-based rock group System of a Down will represent Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 to be held in Baku.

Azerbaijan won the Eurovision 2011 Song Contest held in Dusseldorf, Germany, after its participants Ell and Nikki earned 221 points beating runners-up Italy (with 189points) with their "Running Scared".
