Facebook activists call to stop construction in Gandzasar

Activists have launched a poll in social networking website Facebook, demanding to stop a recently started reconstruction in a medieval church in Karabakh.

By Wednesday noon around 300 people had voted against the reconstruction in Gandzasar Monastery where the constructers had started sticking marble tiles to the old fence-wall.

Only one people had voted for the reconstruction.

It comes after scathing reports in the Armenian media and discussions in Facebook over the reconstruction efforts.

Gandzasar is a 10-13th century Armenian monastery situated in the Martakert region of Nagorno-Karabakh, near the village of Vank.
