Wheeled School projects launched in Armenia

The "Wheeled school" project in Yerevan. Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan attended the launching ceremony in Republic Square. The project, ordered by the Armenian Ministry of Education and Science, was set up by the Mkhitar Sebastats education center.

The education complex is an experimental school, where the ministry implements all its innovation education programs. Junior and senior students are "armed" with netbooks. All the students will start the next school year with their own PCs.
"There can be no high-quality education without computers and Internet," Minister Ashotyan said. "We had one computer for 36 students in 2009, whereas we have one computer for 22 students now," the minister said.

As regards Internet access a Armenia's schools, the minister said that 65% of them have access to Internet, and this figure will reach 95% by the end of this year.

Ashot Bleyan, Director of the Mkhitar Sebastatsi center, sad that the project is aimed at creating demand for media education schools in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Such schools will enable students and teachers from Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh to communicate and exchange experience, which is of high importance for development of comprehensive education.

The following cities are involved in the project: Yerevan, Yeghegnadzor, Goris, Shushi, Stepanakert, Askeran, Aramas, Ganzasar, Tatev and Noravank.
