Today marks International Left-Handers' Day
August 13 marks the International Left-Handers' Day.
This day was for many years ignored on the former Soviet territory. Left-handers were often forced to "correct" or "change" themselves, despite psychologists' concerns that such methods might cause disorders in children.
Child psychologists now observe a growth in the number of the left-handed children in post-Soviet countries. The number of left handers is said to have increased from 3% to 9%-15%.
Specialists warn parents against making their children right-handed, as they say such attempts might have serious health aftermaths, developing phobias or a hysteric behavior in children.
