Serj Tankian calls to live a just life and restore justice

Famous American-Armenian rock singer Serj Tankian has made a call to live a just life and to use all chances to restore justice.

At a meeting with representatives of Armenian civic society and reporters in the House of Moscow in central Yerevan, Tankian said: "That is part of our job. Music should, much in the same way as other jobs, contribute to the fight for justice."

Tankian said that during his stay in Yerevan he was received by Armenia's Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and had quite an "open and effective discussion" with him related to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Serj Tankian is in Yerevan on the sidelines of a concert on the opening of TUMO Centre for Creative Technologies.

Further, Tankian referred to the mining activities conducted in Teghut - a focal area for concern for Armenian environmentalists.

"I have always backed the team of protection of Teghut. It should be said that the mining industry is a dangerous phenomenon not only in Armenia," said he.

"That branch of industry is, of course, very useful especially for countries with scant natural reserves and capacities. But a serious thinking should be done, long-run analysis should be made before that," explained Tankian.
