Election campaigns: TV gives way to Internet
Political parties will probably have to conduct their election campaigns by means of Internet. The reason is that TV has over recent years lost a considerable part of its audience.
Not only young, but also middle-aged people normally spend their time before PCs rather than before TV sets, reports Vedomosti.ru.
Alexey Volin, the former vice-chief of the Russian government staff, points out that then authorities are aware of the declining number of TV viewers, and are no more actively working with Interne users. They are even inviting bloggers t the Kremlin and creating new Internet portals.
The Yedinaya Rossiya party has made its official website "user-friendlier", which has attracted more visitors. The part is consistently posting propaganda materials on social websites.
