Italian specialist restores mural in church in Armenian

An Italian specialist has partly restored a mural in Surb Karapet Church in the Vorotnavank monastery in Armenia's southern region of Sisian.

Christine Lamorea from Belgium had come to Armenia upon the invitation of the country's Ministry of Culture.

She worked on the mural from August 20 to 24 together with architect Ara Zaryan from Italy and mural restoration restorer Arjanik Hovhannisyan from Armenia.

The mural, located on the church's northern altar, is believed to have been drawn in 11th century.
