International Association for Armenian Studies to hold conference

The International Association for Armenian Studies (IAAS) is to hold the 12th General Conference at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, October 6 to 8, 2011.

According to the information on the IAAS official website, this conference will be of special significance since it will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the AIEA in 2011.

A special session will be dedicated to the transmission of texts and ideas between the Armenian-, Greek-, Syriac-, Georgian-, Arabic- and Persian-speaking communities. Another session will focus on the current situation of Armenian and Caucasian studies in Eastern Europe. Since the Congress will be held in Budapest, this opportunity will be used to commemorate the great Hungarian Armenian scholar, late Prof. Edmund Schütz.

The International Association of Armenian Studies ( A.I.E.A. [Association Internationale des Etudes Arméniennes]) is a scholarly organization devoted to the promotion of Armenian studies at large.

Members come from many countries, mainly European, but also from Armenia, the Middle East and North and South America.
A.I.E.A is member of the Union Internationale des Etudes Asiatiques et Orientales (UIEOA).
