Yerevan Physics Institute to continue fundamental sciences programs
The Yerevan Physics Institute (YerPhI) will continue the implementation of programs aimed at the development of fundamental sciences, its director says.
Speaking to Tert.am, Ashot Chilingaryan introduced the main trends of the Institute's research projects, noting that their activities focus on elementary particle physics, high energy astrophysics and cosmic ray research. He said YerPhI's small accelerators are being used in the government-proposed large scale nuclear medicine program, with the generated isotopes of technetium being applied in the special equipments of three oncology centers .
As for YerPhI's big accelerator, Chilingaryan said it will not be operated due to physical and moral depreciation.
He further told Tert.am that Institute's has launched the small-scale science intensive production and has successfully showcased its products at a recent manufacturing exhibition in Yerevan.
