Stars join Aznavour in Paris to sing for Armenia

The Olympia concert hall in Paris hosted yesterday world-famous singer and song writer Charles Aznavour's concert dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence.

French-Armenian independent journalist Jean Eckian reported from the France that the event was attended by Armenian and French top officials, including Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Nicolas Sarkozy.

"I would like to express my gratitude to both presidents, as their presence is highly important in our struggle," the singer said in his welcoming speech.

The unique show had brought together several Armenian and French artists, including singer Hasmik Papian (soprano), pianist Tigran Hamasyan, humorists Michel Leeb and imitator Laurent Gerra. The great singer's daughter, Seda Aznavour, also performed at the concert.

The proceeds from the event will go to the charitable foundation Aznavour to Armenia.
