3D, puppetry, music and dance: Hay Fest-2011 kicks off in Yerevan

Armenian theatrical festival Hay Fest-2011 is kicking off at 8pm on Saturday with more than 30 troupes from 18 countries to participate in it.

The festive opening will be followed by a dance performance called Blue Men by the PR Evolution.

Jofia Nemes, the choreographer of the Blue Men said at a press conference that they have attended various festivals, adding that Hay Fest is second to none.

“This performance is about the spiritual world of the men,” said he. “We are used to imagine men as strong and standing everything, but in our performance we sought to view men from another angle.”

The main surprise of this year’s festival is the Solitary Tango solo performance in 3D format. During the eight-minute long the audience will watch with 3D glasses.

During seven days the Armenian audience will have a chance to listen to music, watch plays and dance performances, as well as puppet performances.

Arthur Ghukasyan, the director of the festival, said that while choosing performances for the festival they did not intend to bring such plays so that to attract lots of audience.

“What is important for us is to show high-quality performances in Armenian theaters and ensure a communication between the Armenian audience and the real art,” explained he, adding that based on their budget they are trying to invite as prestigious troupes as possible.
