Zvartnots new passenger terminal to start operating tomorrow

On Oct. 5, at 1:00 pm. Yerevan time, the new passenger terminal at the Zvartnots airport will start serving arrivals.

Outgoing passengers will be served at the relevant terminals.

The opening ceremony of the new passenger terminal was held on Sept. 16, with the participation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II and government officials.

The construction was launched in 2008. With respect to technologies applied at the Zvartnots airport, Armenia is regional leader. Zvartots is the only airport in the South Caucasus that meets the B standard.

The airport is designed to serve 3.5m passengers yearly against 1.6m passengers now. The new luggage inspection system is designed to serve up to 2,800 pieces of luggage an hour.
