Orange launches second round of Book Prize

Armenia's third mobile operator, Orange Telecom has launched the second round of the Orange Book Prize 2011.

According to a press release by the company, the first round of the public voting attracted 130 works, of which the following five were recognized the best.

Novel. "Change of feather" (Hrach Beglaryan) and "Dog constellation" (Narine Kroyan).

Fairy tale. "Inhabitants of Ankimur" (Armine Abrahamyan)

Essay. "The City" (Vardan Fereshetyan), "Bridge to Tanya: the Extraordinary Poet and the Woman", (Violet Grigoryan), «Insomnia in Paris» (Vahram Martirosyan) and «The time to jump out of the waggon» (Armen Shekoyan)

Short story. "Few hours before death penalty" (Paruyr Santrosyan), "Dream of the football ball" (Tatev Derzyan), "Matryoshka" (Armen Ohanyan), «96» (Marine Kocharyan)

Screenplay. "Charents" (Vahram Martirosyan)

Upon the jury's proposal, essays and short stories have been divided into two categories. One work in Fairy tale and screenplay and another work in the play category were recognized the best and will be automatically be declared winners in this round. Extracts from those works are available on the Orange Armenia website.

Starting from now, a very interesting period begins, as all those who like reading will be able to read, share their opinion and choose works for publication. This is an exceptional moment because the public at large learns about literary works after are compiled into a book. Orange Book Prize reader’s prize than a literary one. We hope that with public readings, discussions and meetings with the authors we will attract wide circles of readers, provoking interest in reading in. It’s important especially because Yerevan is to become the world book capital next year," said Orange Armenia CEO Bruno Duthoit.
