Azerbaijan to spend $1bn on Eurovision

The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest will cost the Azerbaijani authorities $1 billion, arccording to Mir TV channel.

Most of the resources will be reportedly spent on constructing a concert hall for 50,000 spectators. The preparatory expenses, according to Finance Ministy estimates, will make $1billion.

“All the hotels and most of the restaurants in Baku have invited specialists from Asian cuisines to teach the local cooks. Can you imagine they have started cooking barbeque with Japanese seafood and stuffed cabbage roll with pork here,” a hotel administrator from Baku told the TV channel.
