Armenian cake artist wins world prize in Las Vegas

American-Armenian cake artist Flora Aghababyan has won a world prize at a wedding cake-making contest in Las Vegas attended by many famous cake artists, Armenian daily Azg reports.

Flora worked as a confectioner at the Win hotel since 2007, preparing various cakes for the wedding parties organized at the hotel.

Flora went to US from Armenia in 2000. Neither in Armenia nor in US did she ever obtain any education in confectionary.

A self-study, she read a lot about the confectionary art and made endless efforts to practice and eventually developed her own style.

The dancer-turned-confectioner started cake-making as a hobby since her early childhood. Later in US, her interest in confectionary turned into a real passion.
