Yerevan to host first exhibition of hyper-realistic art

An exhibition of hyper-realistic art is going to open at the Yerevan State Architecture and Construction University on Monday.

The event is seen as an opportunity for young designers to display around 65 pieces of this genre of painting.

Hyper-realistic painting, which is based on the principles of photo realism, differs from the latter in that it does seek to reproduce the reality as it is by providing a detailed depiction of objects and scenes.

The head of the exhibition, Haykaz Arsenyan, said the attempt to create hyper-realistic canvases was a kind of test for the young designers who were given a task to obtain the camera-fixed images of the objects. A cognitive film will be screened at the opening to introduce visitors to the history of hyper-realism.
