Festival of young producers starts in Armenia

The Union of Theater Workers of Armenia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, is to hold the 6th festival of young producers in Yerevan, Nov. 23 to 30.

Nine theater companies from Yerevan and Armenia's regions will take part in the festival. The participants will stage plays of different styles. The only condition is an innovative approach to each play.

The organizers say that the aim of the festival is discovering new names and enabling them to integrate into the international arena.

"The festival of young producers facilitates Armenian theaters' integration into the international scene. By participating in such festivals our young people gain experience that helps them to show the best performances in the festivals held outside Armenia," said Levon Mutafyan.

Each performance will be followed by debates. Both experts and viewers may take part in them.

"The debate may be one of the major achievements of the festival," Mutafyan said.

A play by Gor Sargsyan will inaugurate the festival.
