35-year old former Olympian, WBO light heavyweight world champion and the first ever Mexican to capture gold at 175 lbs, Julio Cesar Gonzalez (41-8, 25ko), died Saturday night whilst out on his motorbike.

Gonzalez was the apparent victim of a hit and run driver while heading home in Guerrero Negro, Baja California, Mexico, Otbva.com reported.

The father of two is fondly remembered for his warrior's heart, including fights against Roy Jones Junior, Clinton Woods and dethroning Dariusz Michalczewski in 2003.

Gonzalez leaves behind two children.
