Armenia’s Ministry of Education and Science, assisted by VivaCell-MTS, will implement five projects, including an e-textbook project.

At his meeting with journalists on Tuesday, Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan said that international experts will be invited to Armenia to work out school rating methods.

“Our society must be well informed of the schooling quality. We are going to spot poor schools, and the ministry will focus its attention on them,” Ashotyan said. Also, Armenia’s society will be informed of the quality of higher education.

Among the criteria in effect for higher schools in Armenia are the number of students, progress, laboratories and teaching staff.
Minister Ashotyan reported that about 230 textbooks will be available in their electronic versions.

With respect to Wi-Fi in 107 Armenian schools, Minister Ashotyan said that students will be able to use Internet not only in studying, but also for entertainment.

Only citizens of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh can take part in the “Best student” competition now. In future, however, foreign citizens will be allowed to take part in it.
