International conference on transforming society opens in Yerevan
An international theoretical and practical conference on philosophical and psychological aspects of transforming society has opened in Yerevan.
The 2-day conference has been organized on the initiative of Yerevan Khachatur Abobyan Teachers Training University.
“Transforming does not mean rejecting what we have. It means inheriting what is good, what facilitates our people’s development.
This is one of the major tasks of transforming society,” Gevorg Brutyan, President of the International Academy of Philosophy, said in his opening speech.
He pointed out that developing society requires establishing a new higher school.
Brutyan stressed the importance of the conference due to the participation of renowned scholars from Great Britain, Greece, France, Austria, Denmark, Belgium, Finland and Czech Republic.
Armenian Prime Minister, University Council Chairman Tigran Sargsyan welcomed the participants and pointed out the theme of the conference is a modern and interesting one.
“I am sure this conference will help the teachers’ training university to strengthen its contacts with foreign universities and reach the level of the best universities,” the Armenian premier said.
“Never before have transformations been so rapid,” Premier Tigran Sargsyan said.
Gevorg Brutyan conferred the title of Honorary Doctor on the Armenian premier and awarded him a David Anaght medal.
The scholars participating in the conference are to deliver reports.
