Georgia woman gives birth to grandson

45-year-old Angie Stockton of Georgia has agreed to carry her grandson after her daughter asked her to bear her child.


Krista Saxon was unable to carry the baby through pregnancy herself so her mother stepped up, agreeing to act as a gestational carrier, The Daily Mail reported.


Baby Tucker thus spent nine months inside the womb of his grandmother, before arriving on Saturday, becoming the fourth baby to be born to his or her grandma in the whole of the US.


But her enthusiasm was not mirrored by everyone.


“People would come up and say, ‘Oh you're expecting’. she said. “And I would say, ‘Yes, I'm carrying my grandchild’. And they would say, "Do what!"'


“I was just tickled that he was here and healthy. But I was also thinking about putting him in a ball uniform, getting him on a ball field one day,” said Trent Saxon, Tucker's dad.


“Each day as we got the crib together, put his nursery together, it became more real but I didn't start thinking ‘oh my gosh I'm about to be a parent",' Mrs Saxon added, “until we were getting ready to go into the operating room and then it just hit me like we finally made it.”


Stockton had some surprises to deal with of her own during her pregnancy.


'It's been 26 years since I've been pregnant,' she said. 'I've forgot a lot of things. So she [Krista] had to tell me what to expect.


“It's funny because she's the one who ended up with a lot of the pregnancy symptoms.”
