Translator.am website turned into Armenian studies center
Any Armenian from the Diaspora can use the translator.am website to improve his or her Eastern Armenian.
With the assistance of Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora, the website has been turned into an Internet center of Armenian studies.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Vaghinak Vardanyan, Head of the Information and Telecommunication Department, Ministry of Diaspora, said that the center is supposed to facilitate study and preservation of the Armenian language.
“The website is designed for translations from Western and Eastern Armenian into English, parsing of Armenian sentences and editing of Armenian text. The center also provides materials on Armenian studies,” he said.
Mr Vardanyan hopes that the center will contribute to preservation of Armenian identity. He noted that Armenian communities throughout the world face more and more Armenian language problems year by year.
“At present, the dictionary contains 85,000 Armenian words, 98,000 English words, 50,000 Western Armenian words, 6,000 Latin words and 2,000 old Armenian words. The encyclopedia contains 75,000 entries,” Vardanyan said.
He calls on Armenian businessmen to support the activities to preserve Armenian identity.
