Today marks World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day and the first one was held in 1988.
According to Armenia’s Healthcare ministry’s information, as of November 30, 2012, 1,359 cases of HIV has been registered in Armenia. The assessment of HIV/AIDS situation shows that the calculative number of people with HIV in Armenia makes 3,500.
In 2011 the number of people having participated in the HIV consultations has increased 5.2 times as compared with the 2004. During the recent years the number of HIV examinations among pregnant has increased agreed with more availability of the examination.
Thanks to the complex events carried out by Armenia’s Healthcare Ministry no cases of HIV transfer from mother to child has been registered since 2007.
