Government approves Armenian studies foundation plan
The Government approved on Thursday a decision for establishing an Armenian studies foundation.
The institution, expected to receive 50 million Drams ($125,000) from the State Budget, will deal with developing and coordinating the pan-Armenian studies of the field, according to Radik Martirosyan, the president of the National Academy of Sciences.
“Studies have shown that different communities and scientific centers attach a great importance to the regulation and coordination of Armenian studies to promote a more profound research of national problems,” Martirosyan told reporters on Thursday.
Asked whether the amount envisaged is not an extra cost given there are centers dealing with Armenian studies, the NAS
president said each of those institutions has its own objectives.
The foundation, according to him, will publish a new journal in three or four languages and organize pan-Armenian conferences.
