Cyber-crimes against the Armenian websites have been increasing in number in the past months, according to recent findings.

Speaking at the ArmNet 2012 conference on Saturday, President of the Internet Society of Armenia Grigory Saghyan said the cyber-attacks by Turkish and Azerbaijani hackers have increased from 11,000 in 2011 to 1,250 in 2012.

“Armenia is facing a serious problem in terms of the internet development, which is a cybercrime. Surveys reveal that the internet domain security is much lower in Armenia, and we often see breaches by the Azeris and Turks,” he said, noting that 3 billion people on the planet currently have accesss to web resources.

“The pan-Armenian survey launched will help find what percentage of the population is involved in online communities. But [many] in Armenia - starting from young children - use the Internet,” Saghyan said, adding that Armenia is a leading country in terms of its internet users whose number grows rapidly by every year.
