Though the mortality from cardiovascular diseases is significantly down in Armenia, an increasing number of patients have been turning to specialists in the recent years, according to a doctor.

At a news conference on Friday, Hamlet Hayrapetyan, the head of the Erebuni Medical Center’s Emergency Heart Surgeries Department, said the patients in Armenia are offered all the necessary treatment opportunities and procedures, including the heart rig surgeries.

“The increased number of those turning to doctors over the recent years may be conditioned by the better opportunities which for, certain classes, include the state intervention and health insurance policies,” he explained.

The specialist noted that people in Armenia do not normally apply for preventive medical checkups. “One fourths of the myocardium diseases occur without a preceding symptom, infarction being the common diagnosis. But one has to turn to a doctor upon having any suspicious pains or a high blood pressure,” he said.

The specialist recommended a healthy lifestyle as a basic means for avoiding health problems.

“Cardiovascular diseases occur more commonly in males as the female body is more resident. Patients do not have to turn to a cardiologist in case of any complaint; they may as well apply to polyclinics,” Hayrapetyan added.
