Budget iPhone spotted in leaked photo
Rumours and reports have suggested that Apple is working on a budget version of the iPhone that will cater towards emerging markets. The latest piece of news that seems to back that up is a leaked image showing the supposed plastic back casing for the budget iPhone, Recombu.com reported.
Case manufacturer Tactus managed to snap images of the rear shell after it was seen at parts supplier for Foxconn.
The flat back is said to be reminiscent of the latest iPod touch, but with a cheaper - and no doubt easier to manufacture - plastic build.
The shell is apparently slightly wider and longer than the iPhone 4S, so we could be seeing the same 4-inch screen used on the iPhone 5 and iPod touch. Specs for the lower-cost iPhone are said to include Apple’s A5 processor - currently used in the iPod touch and iPad mini - along with a 5-megapixel camera.
Finally, Tactus has revealed that the factory currently producing these cases is making them in multiple colours, including black, white, red, blue, and yellow. That matches up with previous reports that suggested Apple would be introducing a line of colours with the budget iPhone. It’s also a trend we’ve seen time and time again across Apple’s range of iPods, so it's not hard to imagine that Apple might mix things up in the smartphone department by introducing more colours.
