Favorable conditions created for development of science - State Science Committee chairman
Chairman of the Education and Science Ministry’s State Science Committee Samvel Harutyunyan presented to the reporters today the government’s program on science sector. The program consists of four sections.
“Today favorable conditions have been created for the future progress. The work carried out during the recent years shows that the development process will be accelerated during the upcoming years,” he said, adding that they have 70 programs where foreign consultants are engaged.
He said this year a program for highly effective scientific workers has been declared within the framework of which more than 100 actively working scholars will get additional payments amounting to 100,000 drams.
The program is being carried out for the first time but will be continuative.
“Starting from 2009 the committee has been carrying out programs to support the young scholars. Over 81 youth programs have been financed as a result 124 young people have been supported,” he said, adding that from 2012 the program is being carried out under the sponsorship of Armenia’s president with the co-financing of Armenia’s Youth Foundation.
Harutyunyan said soon favorable conditions will be created for closer cooperation between state scientific organizations and private sector.
“About 400 young people are included in the grant programs, this year the financing of youth programs will grow by 100 million drams,” he said.
The speaker also referred to the issues existing in the sphere, in particular, stressing the shortage of devices.
