Scientists develop G-glass for smart lenses
Researchers recently developed technology that could allow them to create contact lenses having the same capabilities as Google’s high-tech frames, NDailyNews.com reported.
The new device, invented by South Korea’s Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, led by Jang-Ung Park, will allow for photo-taking, text messaging and surfing the Internet, for starters.
The group has attached a “transparent, highly conductive, and stretchy mix of graphene and silver nanowires” to an ordinary pair of contact lenses, according to Technology Review . They tested the lenses on rabbits, whose eyes are about the same size as humans.
In a study, researchers noted that the rabbits didn’t rub their eyes or appear irritated.
