Armenian scientist critical of scientific policy

Science is decisive for the country’s socio-economic situation, but Armenia’s science is in a disastrous situation, Doctor of Biology, Professor Sirenik Hairapetyan told journalists on Tuesday.
 
An incompetent policy has destroyed Armenia’s scientific potential, he added.

“Science is our national wealth, which can be made productive using our country’s geopolitical situation. It will produce higher results that mine development,” he said.

The scientist cited the example of Israel, which is doing its best for developing national science.

“We have very good relations with the ex-Soviet states, and we could take advantage of this favorable situation, develop our science and make it profitable,” he said.

According to Professor Hairapetyan, it is intellectuals that are primarily responsible for the situation.
